Hi everyone! I'm really sorry to bother all of you, but I have a very important piece of information that you might want to know about.

Recently, a legislation called "Orphaned Works" has made its way to Congress. This might not sound very important, but listen.

"An Orphaned Work is any creative work of art where the artist or copyright owner has released their copyright, whether on purpose, by passage of time, or by lack of proper registration. In the same way that an orphaned child loses the protection of his or her parents, your creative work can become an orphan for others to use without your permission."

This means that artists, musicians, writers, and others who have persued the fine arts as a profession (or even dabble in them once in a while) no longer have the protection of the law to keep the works under their name. Anyone can use them at any time, should the owner not be
'found' and can be exploited for profit.

Fortunately though, there is still enought time to change this. A petition has been put into circulation with the intent to send it to the legislators and the higher ups to stop the bill from passing. Go to [link] to sign the petition, and to [link] to quickly find the phone number, address and e-mail of every U.S. senator, U.S. representative, governor and state legislator, and don't be afraid to write or call. Every letter and signature makes a difference, so don't hesitate to act now.

Even if you are not an artist, please pass this around to your friends and family and ask them to sign the petition, write and keep creativity free and accessible for future generations. We need art to survive. Don't let it die.
